Summer thunderstorm

Summertime.

You might think of the beach.

Bright flowers that bloom wide.

Fun nights with friends.

You would not think of a thunderstorm.

Thunderstorms that ring loud outside your window.

Thunderstorms that are too persistent and strong.

Thunderstorms that make you end a fun day and go inside.

Thunderstorms that make you jump out of your seat.

Thunderstorms in the summer.

It’s like being sad in a happy time

In the most unexpected situation.

The times when I felt something didn’t bother me

But I ended up thinking about it all day, all week, all month.

When I was having a fun time

But suddenly wanted to go home.

When nothing is even wrong

But I feel sick to my stomach.

When the shortest words and sentences

Set me off and I can’t seem to find my breath.

I have been the thunderstorm in summer.

I have stayed up at night thinking about why I am the storm.

Are thunderstorms bad?

It is okay. It is natural. Thunderstorms are necessary.

A thunderstorm is when the atmosphere needs to release energy.

It is okay to be angry. It is okay to be sad. It is okay to fail.

There are some things we will never fully recover from,

Memories that will always hurt and haunt.

To be a thunderstorm or to be in the phase of trying to heal.

It is okay to be angry. It is okay to be sad. It is okay to fail

We are all human. It is okay to be sad when you are in a happy time.

It is okay to be a summer thunderstorm.
