Review of Xianzai jiu chufa (Just Going Right Now)

There is a reality TV show called Xianzai jiu chufa which means “Just Going Right NOW.” Xianzai jiu chufa is a Chinese reality TV show about travel, and has a group of people go to new places with singers and actors. Their names are JiaBing, ShenTeng, Wang Anyu, Hu Xianxu, Bai Jingting, Huang Jingyu and Jin Chen. They travel around China, go somewhere that has beautiful scenery and historic cities, and learn about local culture.

When Xianzai jiu Chufa was released, the audience saw that the people on the show communicated very well. Many reality TV shows in China have a script that people on the show follow, so many wonder if Xianzai jiu chufa is scripted or not. There’s a Chinese saying, “Respect the elderly and care for the young,” but the interactions on the show have been described by viewers as “disrespecting the elderly but caring for the young” because their interactions are just too good. Watching these interactions make people think, “is that a new marketing script?” 

I learned about Xianzai jiu Chufa when I was watching a video on TikTok. There are many videos talking about Xianzai jiu Chufa, like how they have fun playing games, what they say, where they go, what they do, and how good JiaBing’s cooking is. Everyone in Xianzai jiu Chufa eats all the food that JiaBing cooks and they call him Bing. When everyone finishes eating they will say thank you to JiaBing like, “thank you Bing, your cooking was so good.” The game they play the most is Werewolf (similar to the US game Mafia.) Huang Jingyu and Wang Anyu, those two always vote out the good guys and how they kill the person. The funny thing was the good guy called Hu Xianxu, who was the smart person in Xianzai jiu chufa and every time play the Werewolf he was finding out who was the Wolf in the game, but no one believed him and always voted him out. Another fun game I remember was when each person needed to sing a song that connected to the word the production team gave. Wang Anyu was singing a song called “The night that I miss you.” The reality TV show in China and the people in the reality TV show have a celebrity air about them and wouldn’t engage in such laugh-inducing things.

Xianzai jiu chufa has three parts in total right now, every part has ten episodes, and every episode on YouTube has the same views, about 770,000 views. That means many people watch this reality TV show, not just Chinese. There might be many Americans also watching this reality TV show too. I think most YouTube Xianzai jiu chufa viewers are Chinese people living outside of China who can’t use the usual Chinese app to watch Xianzai jiu chufa because they are outside of China. This is why I watched the video about Xianzai jiu chufa on TikTok. Chinese TikTok can’t be updated when you are in another country, so it is the same thing for other apps. The Chinese can’t watch in their app, so they just watch from some app that is from the U.S. and YouTube is the app every American uses to watch videos or movies, so most Chinese people chose to watch Xianzai jiu chufa on YouTube. I chose to use Youtube to watch Xianzaijiu chufa and when I use Red Notice I learn there are many people watching Xianzai jiu chufa outside of China like me.

Xianzai jiu chufa won the best overseas variety show award. It shows that there are many people overseas who like to watch this reality TV show. Xian zai jiu chufa is so funny when they play the game or their direct way of interacting, they all make the people that watch this reality TV show laugh. I think that’s what makes the people overseas like to watch Xianzai jiu chufa and makes them get the best overseas variety show award.
