Art and Art Online
Art Plans!

Art is awesome because it helps you draw your thoughts and characters that you like. You don’t have to be good at art to make your ideas or create comics you like. You can make characters you would think should interact, interact. For example, you can make Sonic and Shadow from the games or shows interact in the way you think they will in your head. Make them have a battle, an intense sad conversation, a birthday party etc. It’s very fun to make up scenarios with the characters you love and want to see more art from. You can draw anything you’d like and it’s fun practicing drawing new things. Art is not about being good at it but it’s about the passion you put into improving and making art you like. I wasn’t a very good artist and I am self taught but I continued drawing because I liked drawing characters and making comics! You improve over time and even find your own artstyle along the way. Don’t doubt your art just because you think others are better, use that as inspiration to grow as an artist. Take what you like about those artists and put them into your own illustrations. Study how they make their humans, draw their eyes, how their proportions look, the way they do clothes! You need to study others’ art to improve your own.
Resources!
If you want to learn to draw from videos, go to YouTube! It has a lot of resources and tips on how to improve your art. The best thing about it is that it’s free to use for everyone, so no need to pay. There are a bunch of playlists that can help you and one of them is The Drawing Database-Northern Kentucky University. If you want to get even more serious you can study art in art schools. A good high school for art is Boston Arts Academy (BAA), which is located in Fenway. If BAA is not an option for you, that’s ok! You can look into colleges that specialize in art; RISD, SAIC, CalArts, Maine College of Art and Design, Parsons School of Design and the Pratt Institute. There’s also nonprofits in Boston that you can try out for, like The Elliot School, and Artward Bound.

Self Improvement!

Art can make you money, but it’s mostly for your entertainment and not others. I made my own original characters and comics with them because I like doing so. You might see other people’s art and think yours is not good enough and that’s ok! Being aware of art that is better than your art doesn’t make your art bad, it can just be a goal to reach and give you a new understanding of how art works. If you’re a skilled artist and think your art is not good enough even after all that practice, that’s okay! Because you can start experimenting with new styles of art and make new goals! Your art doesn’t have to stay the same for all of eternity, it’s okay to change some things up. Your art is yours to make or destroy! It really doesn’t matter if you’re making art to make money or for fun, because each path leads to progress.
Criticism!
If you post your art online, trolls may try to be mean to you. Every time it’s just a person who sadly doesn’t understand how hard you worked or how long you’ve been on the art journey. Sometimes trolls use AI for their art, so just show them that you actually know how to pick up a pencil and do hard work, and this will make them shut up real quick. Don’t allow others or yourself to create a bad relationship between you and your art. You don’t have to pay attention to what others say about your art. AI is uncreative and boring, while you can explode some paint on a canvas and make beautiful art unlike some people who avoid the process and want AI to do it all for them. If you are an artist who dislikes AI “taking our jobs,” you are awesome sauce.
