Jurassic Judgment: Is Jurassic World Rebirth Good?

Dinosaurs are back and bigger than ever in “Jurassic World: Rebirth.” However, does this new movie deliver the thrills that fans expect to come with the franchise, or is it just a bad sequel?

I found the movie to be extremely mediocre and disappointing when compared to the past Jurassic World movies. It didn’t have anywhere near as much thrill and excitement that the past movies had. A very major issue was that the main antagonist dinosaur, the D-Rex, was only seen near the very end of the movie. Martin’s exploration team and Reuben’s family were tormented and attacked by almost every other kind of dinosaur other than the actual main dinosaur villain. There was more screen time with other dinosaurs than the D-Rex, a six limbed genetically mutated T-Rex that was too unappealing to be seen, so it was left on the island to never be seen by the public.

A new feature added to recent Jurassic World movies is the introduction of genetically mutated dinosaurs to give the watchers something new to look at. The first Jurassic movie was created in 1993, there are now eight movies in the franchise. The directors decided to have the newer movies include something new to keep the audience entertained without seeing the same dinosaurs over and over again. But, the new “Jurassic World: Rebirth” movie felt very misleading especially because they poorly executed the D-Rex. It’s such a shame because the D-Rex had such unique features that would have made it so interesting to watch on screen but we only got to see it for maybe 10 minutes max out of a two hour movie.

However even though the movie was mediocre, it wasn’t completely terrible. The movie can be enjoyed by people who have never seen a Jurassic World movie. The movie by itself is adequate, but it’s still not comparable to the past movies. But, for those who have seen a Jurassic movie like me may feel that it’s not as good or doesn’t live up to the hype of the others.

In summary, the take away from this is that the movie isn’t bad itself, it’s a good movie when viewing it apart from the Jurassic franchise. But when comparing it to other Jurassic Park movies “Jurassic World: Rebirth” lacks a lot of the thrill and excitement that comes from the antagonist dinosaur.
