How to Manage Your Time
After a LONG day of school or work you just want to relax, and scroll on your phone. Sometimes you just want to go to sleep but you can’t because you have lots of work to do. You just sit there and stare at the wall and ask yourself “why do I never have time for anything or enough time to do things?”
60% of Americans feel like they never have the time to do things that they love or are inspired to do like after school activities or hobbies. Most adults feel very cluttered and caught up in their work and feel like they don’t have time for things they love. Students/kids feel this way because they have homework or afterschool work or chores.
Here are some ideas on how to manage your time, so you can do more of the things you love.
New Schedule
Try making a schedule that fits your daily activities. Many people say that having a schedule can improve your productivity and help you get more active when you’re on a schedule, but it can also help you know what you have completed in your day so far and what you still need to do. This also can help your mental health and physical health because it helps you stay focused. This can also help you improve as a person. You can start your schedule little by little so you don’t feel the need to pressure yourself to get everything done in one day.
Improve on your self control
Improving your self control can help in ways you can’t imagine. It allows you to stick to a pattern and once you have a pattern on how you like doing things you can get through things faster, like doing home work or doing chores. These things will take you longer without having self control, or not knowing when to do it, but once you start having self control it won’t be a huge problem for you to get stuff done. This is also one of the main things you have to do in order to improve not just yourself, but also you being able to manage your time. Without self control, every other idea is like a decoration, just like how if you have a donut without sprinkles it’s there but not fully finished or at its best.
Know your priorites
Knowing your priorities is like a huge step in this whole process. Like, what do I need to do first? What are my top chores or homework assignments? What do I need to have fully completed to be the best version of myself? When you know what’s coming next for you, you won’t be stressed and you’ll kinda be more ready and more prepared. Like say, for example, you have to do a missing math assignment from 2 weeks ago, and on top of that you have an very IMPORTANT English assignment, so you don’t know where to start and you get very overwhelmed. You should start from what is more important to you, or what is worth more points, or what is due soonest.
Stop multitasking
LOTS and LOTS of people say that multitasking is easy and they can get everything done while multitasking. I can relate to this right now, because I catch myself trying to do this all the time. But multitasking is not good for you and it’s NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BRAIN!!! Multitasking slows you down, and causes you also to put less effort into your work. Trying to do two things at the same time like one assignment and one chore might cause both things to be done incorrectly, and then you’ll have to do them over. That’s never a great use of time.
