I Love the World Cup
Today I will be describing how Argentina won the 2022 World Cup and also showing how soccer is important to my life. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world because it’s exciting and brings people together and you can also play this type of sport almost anywhere. There are fields all around the world and people in many countries like to train or to play for fun with some friends but the real popular teams play in a big league where you can watch or buy tickets to go in real life. The places that are really popular for tickets are Miami and Texas, which made me wonder why, because it is so hot and the World Cup takes place in the summer.
The World Cup is important to me because it is a chance for my teams to show the world how much better they got over the four years when there was not a World Cup. It’s important for people in the countries of those teams to see them win and qualify for the semis, and maybe even win the whole thing.
It was insane to be a fan during the last World Cup in 2022. Left and right, teams were losing and winning, and it was the best. Every game on TV, people cheering and yelling with so much energy. The most memorable World Cup game to me was the finale; Argentina vs. France. France tied the game when there was only 20-15m left in the game, but then fortunately Argentina won because of penalty kicks!
That game was insane! Lionel Messi scored, the crowd cheered! Then later after that Angel Di Maria scored so it was 2-0 and the only person to tie this up was the one and only Kylina Mbappe, while everyone was watching he scored once, and the crowd was yelling at the top of their lungs. Then when everything was good for France, one of their players tackled Lionel Messi, so he got a penalty kick and he scored. They were a few minutes until the game ended, and it would have been over, but when players in France passed the ball to Mbappe he was focusing on the game to win it, he was dribbling across players and saw a chance to score and he did it! He was so happy. All the players from the field and from the bench came to him and celebrated, but little did they know, they were going to lose. The moment it was overtime, they lined up to do big time penalty kicks. When Argentina was up first, Lionel Messi took the ball and scored.
Everyone should watch the World Cup this year to celebrate their own country’s team and other countries they enjoy watching.
