5 songs you need in your playlist
On the bus, walking home, doing homework, and even as I’m writing this, I’m listening to music. I know music is an escape for so many people, it helps people focus and there’s so many different genres. Music is so diverse that if you don’t like a song, there’s a million more to listen to. Personally I know that I can get bored of some of the songs on my playlist and I just need to try some new tunes. So without further ado I came up with a list of some songs you should try.
- No One Knows by Brent Faiyaz
This was one of the songs that really got me into Brent. Brent typically sings about love/ heartbreak while this song’s lyrics center around isolation and loneliness. The change from the loud and chaotic beginning to the smooth catchy beat had me hooked in. After hearing Brent’s voice I was obsessed, the way his voice could switch from such a low tone to a high pitch voice really had me wowed, especially in this song. If R&B is your genre, this song is definitely for you, whether or not it’s one of those songs that just gets stuck in your head and you could listen to it on repeat.
- Andrea by Bad Bunny
This is my all time favorite song on the whole album of Un Verano Sin Ti and honestly I feel like this song barely gets talked about compared to the others. Andrea is actually one of those songs that is so good but also has a story behind it, a story that advocates for others. Many people can interpret it in different versions but it specifically centers around the issues that women in Puerto Rico face, it also is about a woman who wants to achieve her dreams and be respected while doing so. Overall this song is a song that many can identify with and enjoy.
- Nights by Frank Ocean
Nights has two parts to the song, the first one being more upbeat than the other. The switch in the beat and the feeling of the song made me obsessed, the way he transitions the song using the guitar gave me complete goosebumps. In many of his songs he talks about his previous relationships, this song in particular highlights the highs and the lows he’s experienced while in these relationships. Frank’s songs will always leave you with such a euphoric feeling his songs make you feel like you’re floating. Nights is also another song on the list that is considered R&B/soul music.
- SMUCKERS By Tyler The creator ft. Lil Wayne and Kanye west
Compared to all the other songs on this article this one is more hyped up and one of those songs you yell at the top of your lungs. The features on this song make it 10x better, this song was made in 2015 and is still one of the best liked songs by Tyler. This song feels like an adrenaline rush, it makes me get up and start screaming those lyrics. While this song doesn’t have a strong meaning it’s one of those songs that you can get hype too and don’t necessarily need one. This song is put into the Hip Pop genre, so if that’s your jam you know what to do.
- For the First Time by Mac Demarco
Back to the more relaxed songs, For the First Time is more of a slow song about love and many can interpret it as talking about a long distance relationship. Even if you don’t enjoy some romance songs just like me, this one is more subtle. It’s one of those songs where you can space out too, a song where you’re doing simple tasks like going on a walk or even crying too. This song blew up some time 2021 and the reason why I love it so much is because of how memorizing it feels. I imagine it as one of those you listen to during a rainy, more chilled out day.
As I mentioned previously, music is very diverse. It has many voices, and tunes, and you could always switch up your music taste but don’t ever listen to anything you don’t actually enjoy. Music is a wonderful world to explore so you should at least have fun while doing so. If you ever want to switch things up or just want some more recommendations I highly suggest listening to the songs listed above!
