Five Sanrio stores in Massachusetts you need to check out

Have you ever heard of Sanrio? Well if you didn’t have a clue, Sanrio is a Japanese company that came to America in 1976. Sanrio has made many adorable characters, the most iconic being Hello Kitty, but there are also many other characters like My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin. As a person who’s been a Sanrio fan since elementary school, when looking for places to buy Sanrio items in person, it was difficult. I ended up finding some spots in Massachusetts that were recommended and went to check each of them. Some stores had nearly 5 items max, while others were filled with Sanrio items everywhere. Personally my Sanrio collection consists of items not only online, but from these stores specifically. From some of these, I’ve collected over 10 items, but my collections span over 50 Sanrio pieces. If you also like Sanrio, or now like it because you know what it is, and live in Massachusetts, then you need to check out these stores! Here’s my top five stores to check out to fill your Sanrio love.

1. Miniso

This shop sells mainly household, toys, and cosmetic items. They have a store location in the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, and there they sell mostly Sanrio items! The items they sell range from things like Sanrio keychains, blind boxes, plushies, bags, face masks, figures, containers, household items, toys, and snacks. Therefore, there is a ton to choose from! They have items of a lot of characters like Hello Kitty, Kuromi, My Melody, Pocachoo, Pompompurin, and Cinnamoroll. Their prices are also relatively low for Sanrio items, depending on what you get you could get around 10 or more items for $100. Also, because they are located in a mall you can also run into other stores and get food from the cafeteria while you are there, making it a full trip with plenty of room for more fun!

2. Teehee

Teehee is a store specializing in selling Sanrio items located in Brookline, MA, near many food places. They have Sanrio plushies, keychains, clothes, home items, bags, and more related to the characters. A special thing about the store is that they sell a lot of unique and jumbo Sanrio plushies! While selling mainly Sanrio items, they also sell some K-pop, San-X, and stationary things. When I went there were a lot of workers who were willing to help with anything and were also very nice! Although, the pricing of the store is a bit high so if you plan on going save some money to spend! They do have an Instagram where you can see new Sanrio updates and new items in the store.

3. Magic Castle

Magic Castle is another location of Teehee, although it is located in an H Mart in Burlington. They sell a lot of the same things, although, I would say Teehee specializes more in plushies while the Magic Castle location has more room for decorative things. Also, Magic Castle does carry some Pokemon and other franchises that Teehee doesn’t. They both have similar pricing because they both get their items from Sanrio. The store is located in a H Mart, which has some Sanrio candies and sweets. It does take a while to get there depending on where you live, so if you do go I’d suggest making more plans to go to the mall near there to make full use of your time.

4. Five Below

Five Below is a store known for selling items ranging from $5-$1, with multiple locations across Massachusetts and the US. Within the recent months, they have had more and more Sanrio items you can buy. These items range from Sanrio posters, small squish mallows, plushies, figurines, water bottles, blind boxes, keychains, headphones, toys, stationery supplies, shirts, and more! Although they do not carry only Sanrio items, they sell a large amount of them. The store also carries other items like clothes, candy, cosmetics, toys, and household items so while you’re there you can pick up some non-Sanrio items you may need! They also have an online website where you can buy their items online, with all the items they sell listed, with some items not being sold in most store locations. With the price of most of these Sanrio items being $5, you can pick up a lot of Sanrio items to grow your collection for a lower price than from other Sanrio retailers.

5. Tao’s

Tao’s is an Asian cosmetic store that also carries a few Sanrio items. They have two store locations in Massachusetts, one in Chinatown, and the other in Brighton. While they do mainly sell non-Sanrio cosmetic items, they also carry some Sanrio keychains, socks, hairbrushes, makeup wipe holders, and lip care products. When I went to the store it was really cute! It is also near a lot of food places and a Boba shop. The prices for the keychains were high, but everything else ranged between $10-15. It is important to note that it is only a small portion of the store that has Sanrio items, but they do have an online store. On their online store, they do have a lot more items than they have in the actual store.
